New Governance : an official transition within BASAN

With over 75 years of history, BASAN Group is entering a new chapter by rethinking its governance to support its development ambitions.
Anil BARDAY, an emblematic figure of the second generation of the founders and former President of the group, now becomes Honorary President. He officially passes the presidency of the group to his son, Karim BARDAY, who has served as CEO for the past 18 years.

A transition in executive roles

As of March 1, 2025, Sébastien KIENTZ has officially taken on the role of Chief Executive Officer. With 17 years of experience within the group, he has successively held the positions of Chief Financial Officer, Director of JB, and Deputy CEO. His in-depth knowledge of the group’s six companies and their strategies makes him the embodiment of this new era in governance.

In parallel, the role of Secretary General is also evolving with the departure of Thierry BARDAY. The group would like to express its heartfelt gratitude for his dedication and extends its best wishes for his future endeavors. Since January 2025, Frédéric ANDRIAMAHARO has taken over the position of Secretary General, marking his 8th leadership role within the group over the past 30 years.

Ambitious Outlook

With 4,000 employees, the group remains true to its mission of improving the lives of Malagasy people through its six companies operating in agriculture, industry, and distribution: JB, SOCOLAIT, BOOST, LECOFRUIT, TANJAKA FOOD, and AIGLE D’OR.

“BASAN is committed to preparing for the future through strengthened governance. These changes reflect our dedication to improving lives for all,” said Karim BARDAY.

“We will continue to uphold BASAN’s values and honor the BARDAY family’s commitment to building a sustainable group capable of meeting the needs of current and future generations,” added Sébastien KIENTZ.

The Board of Directors will ensure that this new governance structure strengthens BASAN Group’s ability to achieve its strategic goals and accelerate its growth.

BASAN. Live better, today and tomorrow.
