The dairy value chain
_ the dairy sector

Breeding

Dairy cows require careful attention. Four key conditions are essential to ensure their well-being and the quality of their milk: proper nutrition, strict reproductive management, genetic improvement, and regular health monitoring.
SOCOLAIT supports farmers every day by providing technical guidance and assistance to help build a high-quality dairy sector.

Cows are usually milked two to three times a day. After calving, they produce milk for about 10 months and can yield up to 25 liters per day.

Milk is collected directly from the farms. An initial screening is carried out to ensure it complies with regulatory standards.

Once collected, the milk is stored in refrigerated tanks. Samples are taken and tested in an accredited laboratory to verify compliance.
Once the results are approved, the batch is cleared for processing.

Once quality-checked, the milk is transported to the dairy in refrigerated trucks to maintain the cold chain.

The milk then undergoes several steps to ensure safety and quality: mixing of ingredients (milk, sugar, cream), pasteurization to eliminate harmful bacteria, fat standardization, and finally, packaging.

After processing, dairy products are packaged and stored in refrigerated warehouses to preserve their freshness and quality. They are then delivered to retail outlets through a rigorous logistics network that ensures the cold chain is maintained from start to finish.
